Ross and Smith Islands, often referred to as the "Twin Islands" of North Andaman, are a breathtaking natural wonder located near Diglipur in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These two separate islands are uniquely connected by a narrow, 50-meter-long natural sandbar that appears and disappears with the tides, creating a stunning visual spectacle.

Natural Sandbar Connection: The sandbar linking Ross and Smith Islands is a rare geological formation. During low tide, it emerges as a pristine white pathway, allowing visitors to walk between the two islands, surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters. ​


Pristine Beaches and Marine Life: The islands boast untouched white sandy beaches and are part of a marine sanctuary, offering vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine species. Snorkeling here reveals a colorful underwater world teeming with life. ​

???? How to Reach

From Diglipur: Visitors can hire a speedboat or a traditional fisherman's boat from the Aerial Bay Jetty in Diglipur. The journey takes approximately 20–30 minutes.


Permits: A forest permit is required to visit the islands. Indian nationals can obtain it for ₹50, while foreign tourists are charged ₹500. Permits are available at the Forest Office in Diglipur from 6 AM to 2 PM, except on Sundays.
